Sewa
hi Paramo Dharmah "Sewa is the highest form of Dharma"
- mantra for Sewa International that explains the resolve.
The resolve
will be unattained without a befitting establishment and infrastructure.
Since the inception of the very idea of Sewa International,
this had been the dream for many activists spread across all
the continents, drawn from various countries.
Poverty,
underdevelopment on one hand while uncontrolled exploitation
of the natural resources and lop-sided development, on the
other, have emerged as the genuine challenges before humanity
as the world moves faster towards Globalization.
India
with its diversity and plurality, culture and tradition, based
on ancient and time tested Hindu philosophy, has a key role
in seeking the most viable answer to the challenges before
the humanity for a bright future.
Sewa International,
an organization firmly embeded in the knowledge and wisdom
of this land called India, is most willing to spread the message
of voluntary service to the whole of human society.
To
quote one of the greatest sages of the last century Swami
Vivekananda will be most appropriate here - "The
poor, illeterate, the ignorant, the afflicted, - let these
be your God. Know that service to these people alone is the
highest religion".
The movement,
Sewa International, started in UK with some young men &
women joining hands to help the earthquake victims of Latur,
Maharastra state, India in 1991. Since then, the movement
has spread over to 15 countries.
Registered
as a Trust in the year 1997 in India and since then it has
been in the forefront to serve the weaker sections of the
society in India.
Students
and youth, volunteers and the retired personnel, intending
to reach the project of their choice to serve personally,
can reach their destination. Immense satisfaction they would
earn, obviously.
80
kinds of voluntary projects, through some 700 odd organizations
and groups are in the loop from all the continents. Join one
and talk to all, know about all, reach out to all. That is
the hub called Sewa International.
