We have
been
contacted
about
a crisis
facing a
young
family
from
India. A
recently
married
young
couple
are
recent
migrants
to
Australia.
The
husband
has been
diagnosed
with
Acute
Promyelocytic
Leukaemia
in
February
2010.
Due to
the
absence
of leave
entitlements,
and
unavailability
to work,
they
lost
their
jobs
after
husbands
admission
to
hospital.
Their
visa
types do
not
allow
them to
qualify
for
Centrelink
benefits,
which
has
further
jeopardised
their
access
to
income
support,
and they
have
therefore
not had
any
source
of
income
since
diagnosis.
It is
needless
to say
that
they are
in
extreme
financial
hardship,
and
requiring
further
urgent
assistance.
Both of
them
have
experienced
significant
emotional
turmoil
as they
have
attempted
to, not
only
come to
terms
with
husbands
life
threatening
diagnosis,
but also
face the
challenge
of
having
no means
to
support
themselves.
Their
family
and
support
networks
are in
India,
and
unable
to offer
any
financial
assistance,
as they
do not
have the
means.
If you
can
please
help
them by
giving
moral
and
financial
support.
SEWA
volunteers
will be
visiting
his
family
in the
hospital
and
would
like to
offer
assistance
to them.
If you
